Hawke’s Bay is part of the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail and show cases many top-class wineries all within easy access from Napier. Art Deco architecture that features in the main city of Napier is celebrated, especially since the city was rebuilt after an earthquake in 1931.
Surrounded by harbour and hills, New Zealand’s capital is home to Te Papa, the interactive national museum and art gallery. Home to New Zealand’s movie industry (affectionately known as Wellywood) therefore a film tour or visit to Weta cave is a must especially for fans of The Hobbit, Tin Tin and Avatar.
