Encounter Albatross

Albatross Encounter is located in the Encounter venue at 96 Esplanade Kaikoura, New Zealand. The Encounter complex is also home to the famous Dolphin Encounter operation as well as the popular Cafe Encounter. Famous for whales and dolphins, Kaikoura is also arguably one of the world’s most exciting arenas for pelagic (ocean going) birds.

Whale Watching Kaikoura

Giant Sperm Whales are the stars of the show and year-round residents. A typical Whale Watch tour may encounter New Zealand Fur Seals, pods of Dusky dolphins and the endangered Wandering Albatross. Depending on the season you may also see other species migrating. Orcas and Hector’s dolphins are also common sightings.
